Wolf Pack Claw their way to History

The Hartford Wolf Pack played the Springfield Thunderbirds Wednesday night with their 12 straight consecutive home win. This is the third game of the three games series. Both teams coming into tonight’s game with good records with the Wolf Pack being 26-11-4 and the Thunderbirds with a record of 26-20-2.

At the start of the game both teams were playing well. The first goal was scored by the Wolf Pack 2:45 into the first period by Patrick Newell with his 4th goal of the season. This goal provided a lot of momentum for team in the first period. The Thunderbirds defense was playing okay during this period. The first powerplay of the first period was unsuccessful by the Thunderbirds not capitalizing with a goal. Then the Thunderbirds scored their first goal which was scored by Daniel Audette 9:55 into the first period. On this play the Wolf Pack defense struggled to block the puck letting in the goal. Later in the period the Wolf Pack scored another goal who was scored by Tim Gettinger with his 11th  goal of the season. The score of the game now 2-1 with the Wolf Pack trying to hold off the Thunderbirds. As the Wolf Pack were gaining momentum in the game the Thunderbirds scored again. The Thunderbirds goal was scored by Matt Mangene which tied the game 2-2. The Thunderbirds went onto another powerplay unable to score. The game was going well with both teams trading hits and going for the puck with force. Breaking the tie, the Wolf Pack scored their third goal of the game who was scored by Vinni Lettieri. This was Lettieri 20th goal of the season. The game was very close with both teams trading goals with the score 3-2 Wolf Pack. The period ended with the score 3-2 Wolf Pack.

The second period started with a goalie change by the Thunderbirds. The Goalie that was put on the ice was Philippe Desrosiers. This goalie in a previous game had 63 saves for Springfield. Then Thunderbirds gained some momentum with a score by Daniel Audette with his second goal of the game. Both teams were trading goal with their defenses lacking letting in many goals. The Wolf Pack then broke the tie of the game with a goal scored by Steve Fogarty the Captain of the Wolf Pack making the score 4-3 Wolf Pack. Then Thunderbirds tied game making the score 4-4. Moments after this the Wolf Pack scored another goal scored by Patrick Newell with his 4th goal of the season making the scored 5-4. Later at the end of the period the score was 5-4 Wolf Pack. The shots on goal  were Wolf Pack with 25 shots on goal and the Thunderbirds with 19 shots on goal. The second period went well for both teams scoring back to back with both defenses lacking. 

In the third period the period started out slow with the score staying the same. Both of the teams were trading shots and hits at the beginning of period. Then next into the 3rd period the Wolf Pack scored another goal scored by Vinni Lettieri his 21st goal of the season. Right after this goal another goal was scored to close out the game scored by Nick Jones. This goal was the Wolf Packs 7th goal of the game. The final score of the game 7-4 Wolf Pack.
